All Things Delivered: Story for Design | 2024 Q4

What is All Things Delivered?

This quarterly series will benefit the presenters among us who stand and deliver presentations, and us the coaches in our community who guide their clients to success. We’ll delve into the tools, tips, and techniques that professional speakers employ to appear positive, poised, and professional every time they speak.

Storytelling is the oldest of communication tools. It taps into the fundamental way our brain makes meaning and helps us understand new concepts, engage deeply, tap into our passion, and connect with others. Story is meaning.

The value of story as a communication, leadership and learning tool has become a hot topic in organizational circles in recent years. But often there remains a limited understanding of the breadth and depth of narrative power. We will dive into how to fully employ that power as designers.

We will explore:

  • The three levels of narrative
  • The variety of types and styles of anecdote
  • Frameworks for structuring well-made stories
  • How to distinguish action from description and identify essential elements

This interactive, practical session is hosted by Ilene Bergelson and led by our special guest, Kat Koppett. In addition to her robust career onstage, Kat is an organizational development specialist, international presenter, author of three books and founder of the consultancy firm, Koppett.

If you want to up your narrative game, this session is for you!
